Why We Built Our AI Workflow

Artificial intelligence is changing the way people work.

Newsrooms are no exception.

Some publications are experimenting with fully automated articles.

Others avoid artificial intelligence altogether.

At The Project Herald, we chose a different path.

We believe AI is a powerful tool.

But we also believe journalism remains a profoundly human responsibility.

That belief shaped the workflow we use today.

AI Does Not Replace Our Judgment

One of the biggest misconceptions about artificial intelligence is that it can replace thoughtful journalism.

It cannot.

AI can process information quickly.

It can identify patterns.

It can organise research.

It can help explore ideas.

What it cannot do is exercise editorial judgment.

It cannot decide what deserves public attention.

It cannot understand context the way experienced editors can.

It cannot accept responsibility for accuracy, fairness or integrity.

Those responsibilities remain human.

Always.

We Built AI Into the Process, Not Above It

Rather than asking artificial intelligence to produce finished journalism, we designed a workflow where it supports different stages of our work.

It helps us organise research.

Compare information.

Identify trends.

Explore different perspectives.

Improve clarity.

Challenge assumptions.

Save time on repetitive tasks.

The final responsibility, however, never leaves the editorial team.

Every story published under The Project Herald reflects human review, human judgment and human accountability.

Why This Approach Matters

Good journalism is not simply about producing words.

It is about asking better questions.

Verifying claims.

Understanding context.

Connecting seemingly unrelated events.

Recognising what information deserves attention.

Those are decisions that require curiosity, experience and critical thinking.

AI makes some parts of our work faster.

It does not make those responsibilities less important.

If anything, it makes them even more important.

Technology Should Strengthen Journalism

Every generation of journalism has adopted new tools.

Typewriters.

Computers.

Digital publishing.

Search engines.

Data visualisation.

Artificial intelligence is another step in that evolution.

Our goal is not to chase technology for its own sake.

Our goal is to use technology where it genuinely improves the quality of our work.

If a tool helps us spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time thinking deeply about important issues, then it serves our mission.

Technology should create more space for human insight, not less.

We Continue Learning

Artificial intelligence continues evolving.

So does our workflow.

We regularly evaluate new tools, new methods and new ways of working.

Some experiments become permanent.

Others do not.

We believe innovation requires both curiosity and discipline.

Being willing to explore new possibilities while remaining committed to the principles that define responsible journalism.

Human Before Artificial

Every report published by The Project Herald represents more than information.

It represents judgment.

Responsibility.

Accountability.

Those qualities cannot be automated.

Artificial intelligence may help us work more efficiently.

But the values behind our journalism remain entirely human.

That will not change.

Why This Matters

The Project Herald embraces innovation because we believe better tools can help produce better journalism.

But innovation should never come at the expense of trust.

Our AI workflow exists to strengthen our reporting, not replace the people responsible for it.

Because while technology will continue changing, our commitment to thoughtful, accurate and responsible journalism remains constant.
