The Africa–Atlantic Gas Pipeline (AAGP) — formerly known as the Nigeria–Morocco Gas Pipeline — is a proposed $25bn, approximately 6,900km hybrid offshore-onshore gas pipeline connecting Nigeria’s gas fields to Morocco and onward to Europe via 13 West African countries. Nigeria and Morocco are targeting Q4 2026 to sign a definitive intergovernmental agreement (IGA) between Presidents Tinubu and King Mohammed VI, following completion of FEED studies and an environmental and social impact assessment published July 2026. The pipeline’s maximum capacity is 30 billion cubic metres per year. The Moroccan segment alone spans 2,220km (1,830km onshore + 390km offshore) and represents a $25bn investment within the broader project. FID is expected Q4 2026; commercial operations targeted for 2031.
