Market Significance

A $7bn fertiliser expansion would meaningfully improve Africa's food security by reducing dependence on imported fertiliser — Nigeria currently imports over 70% of its fertiliser needs despite having the feedstock gas domestically.

Risk / Considerations

Financing for a $7bn greenfield/brownfield fertiliser programme is complex — gas supply security and offtake agreements for the expanded production are the critical commercial risks.
