On 10 March 2026, NNPC Limited announced that the Federal Government had granted presidential approval for fiscal incentives intended to enable the Final Investment Decision for the approximately US$20 billion Bonga Southwest Aparo development. NNPC stated that the project is expected to produce approximately 150,000 barrels of crude oil per day and 140 million standard cubic feet of gas per day
